Fenerbahce head coach José Mourinho has reportedly offered David Alaba a guaranteed spot in his starting lineup, only for the Real Madrid defender to turn it down, insisting he will remain in Spain until the end of his current deal.
Alaba, who has Nigerian roots through his father, was approached by Mourinho in a bid to convince him to join the Turkish giants this summer.
According to Turkish outlet Fotomac, the 33-year-old Austrian international was told he would walk straight into Fenerbahce’s first team if he made the move.
But despite limited game time at Madrid last season, Alaba declined the offer, stating he was not prepared to leave the club before his contract expires in June 2026.
Since joining Real Madrid from Bayern Munich on a free transfer in July 2021, Alaba has played a key role in several domestic and European successes.
However, injuries and increased competition in defence saw him make only 14 appearances last season, totalling 599 minutes of action.
Mourinho, who took over at Fenerbahce earlier this summer, has made it clear he wants experience and leadership to bolster his squad for both domestic competition and a potential Champions League campaign.
But Alaba’s stance suggests any future negotiations would have to wait until the conclusion of his contract in Madrid.
