Motsepe arrives in Kenya as CAF president reviews 2027 AFCON preparations
CAF President Patrice Motsepe has arrived in Kenya ahead of the Africa Forward Summit 2026, marking a key visit focused on the development and future direction of African football.
During his stay, Motsepe is expected to participate in high-level discussions at the summit, which brings together football administrators, policymakers, and stakeholders from across the continent to deliberate on strategies aimed at strengthening the game in Africa.
A major highlight of his visit will be an assessment of preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations 2027.
Kenya is part of the co-hosting arrangement alongside other East African nations under the Pamoja AFCON framework, which is being closely monitored by the Confederation of African Football.
Motsepe is also scheduled to engage with the Pamoja AFCON Local Organising Committee to review infrastructure readiness, logistics planning, and overall organisational progress as the continent builds towards one of its flagship sporting events.
The visit comes at a critical stage in the build-up to AFCON 2027, with CAF intensifying oversight to ensure host nations meet required standards in stadium development, transport systems, and fan experience.
CAF, the governing body of African football, continues to emphasise its long-term vision of using major tournaments to accelerate infrastructure growth and elevate the global profile of the African game.
The Africa Forward Summit 2026 is expected to serve as a platform for renewed commitments toward investment in football development, governance reform, and commercial expansion across the continent.
