Morocco schedule Madagascar friendly ahead of 2026 FIFA World Cup
Morocco national football team will face Madagascar national football team in a final warm-up match before departing for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States.
The friendly fixture was officially confirmed on Thursday and is set to take place at the Grand Stade de Marrakech on June 2, just days before the Atlas Lions travel to North America for the global tournament.
The match is expected to serve as one of Morocco’s final preparation games ahead of the World Cup, giving the technical staff another opportunity to assess the squad before the final roster announcement.
Reports also indicate that Morocco will play a closed-door friendly against the Burundi national football team at the Mohammed VI Football Complex before taking on Madagascar.
The coaching staff intends to use both fixtures to fine-tune the team physically and tactically before the start of the competition.
Madagascar are expected to provide a different type of challenge for Morocco due to their disciplined and physical style of play, offering useful preparation ahead of the demanding World Cup campaign.
Following the Madagascar encounter, Morocco will travel to the United States for one final high-profile friendly against the Norway national football team on June 7 at Red Bull Arena.
The match against Norway is viewed as an important step in helping the players adapt to the time zone and weather conditions on the East Coast before the tournament begins. Norway’s physical and technical qualities are also considered valuable preparation, particularly ahead of Morocco’s group stage clash with Scotland national football team.
Morocco are expected to base their training camp in New Jersey during the tournament, with sessions planned at Pingry School.
The Atlas Lions will begin their World Cup journey against Brazil national football team on June 13 at MetLife Stadium before facing Scotland and Haiti national football team in the remaining Group C fixtures.
