Morocco set for World Cup squad reveal ahead of three warm-up matches
Morocco head coach Mohamed Ouahbi will announce his final squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Tuesday evening as the Atlas Lions step up preparations for the global tournament in North America.
The Royal Moroccan Football Federation confirmed that Ouahbi will hold a press conference on May 26 at the Mohammed VI Football Complex, where he is expected to reveal the players selected for the tournament to be staged in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
According to a statement released by the federation, the press conference is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. local time and will focus entirely on the final list of players chosen to represent Morocco at the World Cup.
The announcement comes as Morocco prepares for a series of friendly matches aimed at fine-tuning the squad before the competition begins later this year.
The Atlas Lions will first face Burundi on May 26 at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in a match that will be played behind closed doors.
Ouahbi’s side will then take on Madagascar on June 2 at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat as preparations continue for the tournament.
Morocco’s final warm-up match will be against Norway on June 7 in the United States, giving the North Africans a final opportunity to test themselves before the start of the World Cup.
The Moroccan squad is expected to include several of the country’s leading players, including Moroccan defender Achraf Hakimi, as the Atlas Lions aim to make an impact on the global stage once again.
Morocco have been drawn in Group C of the 2026 FIFA World Cup alongside Brazil, Scotland and Haiti in what is expected to be one of the tournament’s most closely watched groups.
The North Africans will head into the competition carrying high expectations after establishing themselves among Africa’s strongest national teams in recent years, with the upcoming friendlies expected to play a key role in Ouahbi’s final preparations before the World Cup begins.
