The Atlas Lions of Morocco are on the brink of history, poised to equal a record set by Spain over a decade ago. “La Roja” secured 15 consecutive victories between June 2008 and June 2009, and Morocco could soon replicate that remarkable feat.

With a 2-0 victory over Zambia in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, the Moroccan national team notched its 14th consecutive win, putting them just one victory shy of matching Spain’s historic streak.

The Atlas Lions have a golden opportunity to make history in their next fixture against Congo, scheduled for next month in Rabat, during the ninth round of World Cup qualifying matches.

Morocco’s remarkable run has been built on consistency and resilience. The team has remained unbeaten since their Africa Cup of Nations Round of 16 loss to South Africa in January 2024.

Under the guidance of coach Walid Regragui, the squad has delivered flawless performances in both the Africa Cup of Nations and World Cup qualifiers, setting new benchmarks in Moroccan football history.

Currently, the Atlas Lions sit atop their World Cup qualifying group with 21 points from seven matches, eight points clear of closest rivals Tanzania.

The team has impressed on both ends of the pitch, scoring 19 goals while conceding only two, underscoring their dominance as they chase this historic milestone.
