Morocco face Egypt in decisive Futsal AFCON semi-final

Morocco will play Egypt in Rabat on Monday for a place in the final of the 2026 Futsal Africa Cup of Nations.

The match brings together the two most successful teams in the competition’s history, with both sides having won the tournament three times. Morocco are the defending champions and hosts, while Egypt will be aiming to reach the final after a less consistent group-stage campaign.

The semi-final will take place at the Salle Moulay-Abdellah on Monday, 19 October 2026. Kick-off is scheduled for 20:00 in Morocco and Algeria, 19:00 GMT, 21:00 in France and 22:00 in Egypt.

The match will be shown in Morocco on public sports channel Arryadia. It will also be available to watch free of charge internationally on CAF TV, the official YouTube channel of the Confederation of African Football. CAF has confirmed that all 16 matches at the tournament will be streamed to an international audience.

Coverage has also been announced on beIN Sports 5 and Egyptian channel ON Sport HD.

Morocco enter the match as favourites after a perfect group-stage record. Hicham Dguig’s side finished top of Group A by winning all three of their matches, beating Algeria 4-0, Zambia 7-0 and Libya 6-0.

The Atlas Lions have scored 17 goals without conceding since the start of the tournament. They secured their place in the semi-finals after only two matches, completing qualification with their emphatic victory over Zambia.

Egypt, meanwhile, won against Tanzania and Mozambique before missing out on top spot in Group B. The Pharaohs were beaten 4-2 by Angola after taking a 2-0 lead.

Despite that defeat, Egypt remain one of African futsal’s leading nations. They won the Africa Cup of Nations in 1996, 2000 and 2004, giving them three titles – the same number as Morocco.

Morocco claimed their three championships in the most recent editions, in 2016, 2020 and 2024. They are seeking a fourth consecutive title and will look to continue their recent dominance by overcoming Egypt in the last four.

The other semi-final will see Algeria face Angola at the Salle Moulay-Abdellah from 17:00 on Monday. Algeria reached the semi-finals for the first time in their history.

According to the schedule for the 2026 Futsal Africa Cup of Nations, the winners of the two semi-finals will meet in the final on Wednesday, 21 October at 20:00. The defeated teams will contest the third-place play-off at 17:00 on the same day.
