The Moroccan Professional Football League has stirred the ire of officials from the Royal Army Club by neglecting several correspondences regarding the situation of Botswanan player, Tumisang Orebonye.
Orebonye faced a six-month suspension from the disciplinary committee while playing for Olympique Khouribga before moving to USM Alger and subsequently signing with the Royal Army Club during the winter transfer window.
According to informed sources, the Professional League did not respond to two messages from the Royal Army Club inquiring about the legal status of the Botswanan player, even a month after the first message requesting clarification about the player’s legal status before the signing.
The same source clarified that the Royal Army Club had to send a second reminder to the Professional League, urging a legal response regarding the player’s contract and the legality of relying on him in the second half of the professional league.
Despite the Professional League’s silence on the military team’s communications, the latter has concluded the signing of the player, awaiting the legal response to incorporate him into the squad starting from the first match after the resumption of league competitions.
The Royal Army Club finds itself in the same situation as other clubs that attempted to communicate with the Professional League on several occasions without receiving any response.
Abdessalam Belkhayat, the league president, emphasized the importance of communication with the clubs in the last general assembly.
In this regard, the Professional League implemented several measures, including an electronic platform to expedite communication and ensure officials’ avoidance of unnecessary travel to the league’s headquarters.
However, in contrast to these efforts, the league continues to disregard messages from clubs, as seen previously with Raja Casablanca, Moghreb Tetouan, and Wydad Casablanca concerning the case of Fawzi Benzarti.
Tumisang Orebonye had been suspended for six months during a match between Olympique Khouribga and Difaâ Hassani El Jadidi last season due to an attack on an opposing team player and subsequently spitting at the referee after being sent off.
Four months of the penalty have already been served.
