Mohamed Osama, Zamalek’s former head of medical staff, has opened up about turning down archrival Al-Ahly and the behind-the-scenes challenges at the club during his final season.
Osama, respected for his commitment and integrity, shed light on a turbulent phase at the White Castle. He revealed that some new signings did not undergo medical tests under his supervision.
“Last season, there were unusual circumstances within the team, and I requested medical tests for all players and new reinforcements, but things didn’t go as I had hoped. Some players, such as Mahmoud Jihad and Ahmed Al-Jafali, did not undergo medical examinations under my supervision,” he explained.
Osama defended the players’ health while offering to assist the club if needed. “Al-Jafali is a promising player and does not suffer from any chronic injuries, and so is Mahmoud Jihad. In general, I am seeking to help Zamalek. I am ready to help John Edward, the sporting director, if they ask me for anything regarding the medical file”
“I received an offer from Al-Ahly while I was working with Zamalek, but I turned it down because of my commitment to the White Castle. I have received some offers since announcing my departure from the White Castle, but I decided to take a break.”
He also discussed injuries, coach criticism, and Zizo’s departure.
