Yacine Titraoui injury blow as Charleroi prepare for Standard Liège
Algeria international Yacine Titraoui will miss Sporting Charleroi’s Belgian Pro League fixture against Standard Liège on Saturday after sustaining an injury in their previous match.
The midfielder was forced off in the closing stages of Charleroi’s game against Royal Antwerp, with the initial concern over his condition later confirmed to be more serious than first expected. His injury has now ruled him out of the upcoming league encounter.
Charleroi head coach Mario Kohnen confirmed the setback in his pre-match briefing, acknowledging that the player would not recover in time to be available for selection.
“We won’t be able to count on him; Saturday’s (yesterday’s) match comes too soon. It’s regrettable, but we have to deal with it,” he said.
The coach’s comments confirmed that Titraoui is not part of the squad for the fixture, leaving Charleroi without one of their midfield options for an important league match.
Titraoui had been expected to play a role after featuring in recent matches, but his injury during the clash with Antwerp disrupted those plans.
The midfielder left the pitch in the final minutes of that game, and subsequent assessments revealed that his recovery would take longer than initially anticipated.
His absence comes at a time when Charleroi are aiming to maintain consistency in the league standings, making the loss of a first-team player a notable setback for the squad.
While the club have not provided a detailed timeline for his return, the focus is now on rehabilitation and recovery in the coming days.
The medical staff will continue to assess his progress as Charleroi prepare for upcoming fixtures without him.
