Bayern Munich are concerned that Michael Olise may not be fully committed to extending his contract, despite the Frenchman remaining under contract with the club until summer 2029.
The German champions want to renew Olise’s deal because several clubs are interested in signing him, with Real Madrid considered the leading contender. However, according to German newspaper Bild, Bayern are not entirely convinced by the player’s desire to reach a new agreement.
The main source of concern is Olise’s reported request for a release clause to be included in any extension. Bayern are understood to be unwilling to give him longer than next summer to make a decision, as they believe his approach indicates he is not fully committed to renewing his contract.
Bayern’s public position remains clear: Olise is not for sale, and the club insist that attempts by Real Madrid to sign him will not succeed.
The club are nevertheless seeking greater certainty over the player’s intentions. While his current agreement runs until 2029, Bayern’s wish to extend it reflects the level of interest in the France international and their desire to prevent the situation from becoming a long-term issue.
For now, the club will continue to regard Olise as part of their plans, but his request for a release clause has created doubts over whether he intends to remain in Munich beyond his existing contract.
