MC Alger crowned Ligue 1 Mobilis champions as JS Kabylie rout ES Sétif
MC Alger secured a third consecutive Ligue 1 Mobilis title after a 1-1 draw against MB Rouissat on Friday, while JS Kabylie produced one of the standout performances of the weekend with a commanding 5-1 victory over ES Sétif.
The results came during the 28th round of the Algerian top flight and confirmed MC Alger as champions for the 10th time in the club’s history.
Although the league leaders were held by Rouissat, the single point proved enough to officially seal the title with the season approaching its conclusion.
Elsewhere, CR Belouizdad boosted their hopes of a top-three finish with a narrow away win against Olympique Akbou, while USM Khenchela claimed a crucial victory in the battle to avoid relegation.
MC Alger celebrate another league crown
The draw against MB Rouissat may not have delivered a victory for MC Alger, but it was enough to spark celebrations among players and supporters after the club officially secured the championship.
The match ended 1-1 in a tense contest that became more difficult for Rouissat after the sending-off of El Orfi in the 72nd minute.
Reduced to 10 men, Rouissat were forced to finish the game under pressure as MC Alger pushed to take full control.
Despite the numerical advantage, the leaders were unable to find a winning goal.
However, the final whistle confirmed what had increasingly appeared inevitable in recent weeks — MC Alger were champions once again.
The title marks the club’s third consecutive Ligue 1 Mobilis triumph and the 10th league crown in its history, underlining its continued dominance in Algerian football.
CR Belouizdad strengthen continental ambitions
CR Belouizdad moved from sixth to fourth place in the standings after securing a hard-fought 1-0 victory away to Olympique Akbou in Béjaïa.
The decisive moment arrived in the 27th minute when Benzid found the net following an important assist from Ben Hammouda.
The goal proved enough to separate the two sides in a closely contested encounter.
Belouizdad attempted to extend their lead later in the game, while the home side searched for an equaliser in front of their supporters.
However, CRB defended their advantage effectively and managed the closing stages with discipline to secure all three points.
The result leaves the club in a strong position to challenge for a podium finish before the end of the season, with qualification for continental competition remaining a major objective.
JS Kabylie produce statement victory
One of the most emphatic results of the round came from JS Kabylie, who overwhelmed ES Sétif with a dominant 5-1 victory.
The heavy defeat dealt a major blow to Sétif and highlighted the attacking efficiency displayed by Kabylie throughout the match.
From the early stages, JSK imposed their rhythm and consistently troubled the opposition defence.
Their attacking display allowed them to control the contest and secure one of their most convincing wins of the campaign.
The victory also reinforced JS Kabylie’s strong finish to the season as they continue to push for the highest possible position in the table.
Khenchela edge closer to safety
At the other end of the standings, USM Khenchela earned a valuable 2-1 victory over bottom-placed MC El Bayadh in a match shaped by the pressure of the relegation battle.
The home side opened the scoring in the 32nd minute through Etouga before Benyahia levelled for El Bayadh shortly after the break in the 54th minute.
With both teams desperate for points, the match remained tense until stoppage time when Matouti scored the winning goal in the 90+2 minute to secure an important victory for Khenchela.
The result moves USM Khenchela further away from the relegation zone and gives them breathing space heading into the final part of the campaign.
For MC El Bayadh, however, the defeat leaves the club in an increasingly difficult position.
With the relegation fight intensifying and only a limited number of matches remaining, the threat of dropping into the second division continues to grow.
Title race settled as attention shifts elsewhere
With MC Alger now officially crowned champions, focus in Ligue 1 Mobilis is beginning to shift toward the battle for continental qualification and the fight to avoid relegation.
CR Belouizdad’s victory has tightened the race for the top positions, while the struggles of teams near the bottom continue to produce tense and dramatic fixtures each week.
Friday’s results provided another reminder of the competitiveness across the division, from the title celebrations in Algiers to the survival battles unfolding elsewhere in the league.
