Marseille consider loan move for Neom SC midfielder Amadou Kone

Olympique de Marseille have renewed their interest in Neom SC midfielder Amadou Kone as they assess options to strengthen their midfield before the new season.

The 21-year-old Ivory Coast international was previously on Marseille’s radar before leaving Stade de Reims for Saudi Arabian club Neom SC. According to information from Abdel Hamed, Marseille have now made fresh enquiries about his situation as they look for a player who can contribute immediately.

Marseille are understood to be considering a season-long loan for Kone. His experience of Ligue 1 is seen as a significant advantage by the French club, particularly after several departures have left them seeking greater depth and reliability in midfield.

Kone is primarily a defensive midfielder and is of Malian origin. He remains under contract with Neom SC until 2029, meaning any move is unlikely to be straightforward. Neom SC paid close to 13m euros to sign him from Stade de Reims, and the Saudi club are not expected to release the player easily.

The midfielder’s current market value is estimated at 7m euros by Transfermarkt. A permanent transfer could therefore prove difficult for Marseille, making a loan arrangement a more realistic option at this stage.

Marseille would also face competition if they decide to pursue the deal. Several European clubs are reportedly interested in Kone, including Hull City, with Africafoot having previously revealed that interest exclusively.

The renewed approach reflects Marseille’s desire to add a player already familiar with the pace and demands of French football. Kone’s previous Ligue 1 experience could allow him to settle quickly, which is an important consideration for a club preparing for the new campaign and attempting to rebuild its midfield.

Marseille are due to begin their Ligue 1 campaign against Strasbourg shortly. For that match, 1xBet lists Strasbourg at odds of 4.15 to win, with a draw priced at 4.20 and a Marseille victory at 1.69.
