Senegalese defender El Hadji Malick Diouf emerges as Manchester United target
Senegalese left-back El Hadji Malick Diouf has emerged as a transfer target for Manchester United ahead of the next summer transfer window, with West Ham’s league status expected to play a decisive role in any potential move.
The 20-year-old defender has impressed during his first season at the London club after joining the Hammers last summer.
His performances in the Premier League have reportedly caught the attention of Manchester United, who are monitoring the African champion closely as they assess defensive reinforcements for next season.
However, United’s interest is expected to depend heavily on whether West Ham remain in the Premier League.
Reports suggest the Old Trafford club will only intensify their pursuit if the Hammers are relegated at the end of the campaign.
Diouf has quickly established himself as an important figure in the West Ham squad despite only arriving a year ago.
The Senegalese defender has featured in 29 Premier League matches this season and has contributed five assists, underlining his growing influence from the left side of defence.
His energetic displays and attacking contribution have made him one of the club’s standout young players during a difficult season for West Ham.
The former African champion has shown consistency in both defensive duties and forward play, attracting interest from clubs searching for young talent with top-flight experience.
Manchester United are expected to strengthen several areas of their squad during the next transfer window, with the left-back position among the departments being assessed.
Diouf’s age, development potential and Premier League experience reportedly make him an attractive option for the club.
West Ham, meanwhile, could face a difficult task in keeping hold of some of their key players if they fail to secure their place in England’s top division.
Diouf’s performances this season have increased his profile significantly, and interest from one of the Premier League’s biggest clubs could further complicate the situation for the Hammers.
Although no formal move has yet been made, the Senegalese international is now firmly on Manchester United’s shortlist as preparations continue for the summer transfer market.
