Mamelodi Sundowns took a significant step towards securing the Premiership title with a commanding 3-0 victory over TS Galaxy in a late match of the twelfth day.

Following their disappointment in the semi-final of the CAF Champions League, the reigning champions of South Africa bounced back emphatically in the domestic league.

With their sights set on a seventh consecutive Championship title, Mamelodi Sundowns capitalized on the opportunity to extend their lead at the top of the standings, now boasting a formidable 13-point advantage.

Under the guidance of manager Rulani Mokwena, the Sundowns asserted their dominance early in the match, seizing control with two goals within nine minutes.

Peter Shalulile, who had been quiet in recent Champions League fixtures, rediscovered his scoring touch with a clinical brace, each goal expertly assisted by Themba Zwane.

The Namibian international broke the deadlock in the 26th minute before doubling the lead shortly after the hour mark, putting the hosts in a commanding position.

Maintaining their momentum, Mamelodi Sundowns continued to assert their superiority, with Thembinkosi Lorch finding the back of the net to extend their lead to 3-0.

Lorch’s goal further solidified Sundowns’ position at the top of the table, bringing their total points tally to 59 and edging them closer to the coveted Premiership title.

With just one victory separating them from potential coronation, Mamelodi Sundowns have demonstrated their prowess and resilience, reaffirming their status as formidable contenders in South African football.

As the season unfolds, all eyes will be on Sundowns as they aim to clinch yet another league title and etch their name in the annals of football history.
