Mamady Diambou begins new chapter with Brest after Red Bull Salzburg move

Stade Brestois have completed the signing of Mali international Mamady Diambou from Red Bull Salzburg, with the 23-year-old midfielder agreeing a contract that runs until June 2028.

The move gives Brest another option in midfield as the Breton club welcomes a player who has spent several seasons developing in Austria. Diambou decided to continue his progression in France after gaining experience with Red Bull Salzburg and being exposed to the demands of European football.

His arrival was first revealed exclusively by Africafoot.

Diambou joins Brest with the aim of taking the next step in his career. His time at Red Bull Salzburg provided an opportunity to work in a demanding football environment, while also allowing him to discover the higher level of European competition.

That experience will now be placed at the disposal of Brest’s coaching staff, who see the Mali international as a further solution in the centre of the pitch. The club’s decision to commit to Diambou until 2028 underlines its intention to give him time to establish himself and develop in a new league.

The midfielder will hope to make an immediate impression in Brittany and demonstrate the qualities that persuaded Brest to sign him. Having moved on from Red Bull Salzburg after several seasons with the Austrian club, he begins the next stage of his career with the opportunity to secure a regular role in his new team.

According to Transfermarkt, Diambou’s current market value is estimated at €1.5m. Brest will now be hoping that the young midfielder can quickly adapt to his new surroundings and confirm the potential he showed during his spell in Austria.

The transfer also represents a fresh challenge for a player who has already gained experience at international level with Mali. At 23, Diambou arrives at a stage of his career when regular involvement and continued progress will be central to his ambitions.

Meanwhile, Red Bull Salzburg are preparing for their third match of the Austrian championship, when they will face WSG Tirol. The match is listed by the betting company 1xBet with Red Bull Salzburg priced at 1.38 to win, a draw at 4.10 and a WSG Tirol victory at 5.80.

Diambou’s departure means his next competitive chapter will be played out in France, where Brest have secured his services on a contract lasting through June 2028.
