Tunisia target first win as Botswana await in Group H

Tunisia and Botswana will both be looking for their first win of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign when they meet in Group H on Monday.

The Eagles of Carthage travel to Botswana on 28 September after opening their campaign with a 1 1 draw against Uganda last Thursday.

Botswana also began the qualifiers with a draw, recovering from two goals down to earn a 2 2 result against Libya.

The opening results mean all four teams in Group H have one point heading into the second round of matches.

Tunisia will be aiming to turn their first result into three points as they continue their qualifying campaign away from home.

The draw against Uganda left the Eagles of Carthage needing to improve their finishing if they are to take advantage of opportunities against Botswana.

A victory would put Tunisia in a stronger position in the group as the teams compete for the top places.

Botswana, meanwhile, will be hoping to use home advantage to secure their first victory of the campaign.

The Zebras showed their ability to fight back in their opening match against Libya, recovering from a two goal deficit to claim a point.

That result has given Botswana an opportunity to build on their comeback when they host Tunisia.

Both sides therefore arrive at the match with the same objective, having collected one point from their opening fixtures.

With Uganda and Libya also sitting on one point, the second matchday presents an opportunity for either Tunisia or Botswana to move ahead of their Group H rivals.

Tunisia will be seeking a more decisive performance after being held by Uganda, while Botswana will look to carry the momentum from their late recovery against Libya into Monday’s game.

The Eagles of Carthage know that an away victory would provide an important boost to their campaign, while Botswana will be determined to make home advantage count.

The two teams will meet with neither having yet recorded a win in the qualifiers.

The match between Botswana and Tunisia is scheduled to kick off at 19:00 GMT on Monday.

With all four teams starting the second matchday level on one point, the result could provide the first major change in the Group H standings.
