Krépin Diatta rejects Russia offer as Bologna show interest

Krépin Diatta has rejected a concrete offer from Russian Premier League club FK Rodina Moscow as the Senegal international considers his next move after leaving AS Monaco.

The 27 year old right back has been without a club since his contract with Monaco expired on 30 June and is now attracting interest from Bologna, who are looking to strengthen their defence.

According to our sources, Diatta turned down the proposal from Rodina Moscow because he prefers to pursue a more ambitious sporting project in Western Europe.

The Senegalese defender is therefore keeping his options open as he searches for a new club.

Bologna are among the clubs monitoring the situation, with the Serie A side currently looking for a right back.

Diatta’s availability as a free agent makes him an option for clubs seeking an experienced player without having to pay a transfer fee.

He has made more than 150 appearances for Monaco and previously played in Belgium for Club Brugge, giving him considerable experience in European football.

His current market value is estimated at €6m by Transfermarkt.

Diatta had previously been linked with Bayer Leverkusen, but the German club eventually decided to sign Ivorian defender Guéla Doué from Strasbourg instead.

That decision left Diatta without a move as he continued his search for a new club.

The Senegal international has now received another offer, with Rodina Moscow making a concrete proposal that he ultimately chose to reject.

A further offer has also been submitted by Konyaspor, adding another option to the defender’s search for his next club.

Despite the interest, no agreement has yet been reached with Bologna.

The Italian club have several free agents under consideration for the position, meaning Diatta will have to compete with other candidates if he is to secure a move to Serie A.

His immediate future also comes as he looks to regain his place in the Senegal national team.

Diatta was not included in Patrick Vieira’s squad for the current FIFA international break and will be hoping to revive his club career before attempting to return to the national team.

The Dakar born defender is now assessing the opportunities available to him, with Bologna remaining one of the possibilities.

For now, Diatta remains without a club, but interest from Italy and the offer from Konyaspor mean he has several options to consider.

The Senegalese player will have to decide which project best suits his ambitions as he looks to begin the next stage of his career.
