Malian midfielder Aliou Dieng has officially brought the curtain down on his successful spell with Al Ahly after announcing his departure from the Egyptian giants following seven memorable years at the club.

The 28-year-old bid farewell to Al Ahly on Wednesday, June 10, ending a trophy-laden chapter that saw him establish himself as one of the club’s most influential players.

During his time with the Red Devils, Dieng played a key role in the team’s domestic and continental success, helping Al Ahly win numerous titles while earning the admiration of supporters through his consistency, leadership and commitment.

In an emotional farewell message, the midfielder reflected on his journey in Egypt and expressed his gratitude to the club and its fans.

“Al Ahly, the fans and Egypt have been my home for the past seven years. I arrived as a child and I am now leaving as a man, a father, a husband and a player who has found great fulfilment on the pitch. I have lived my dreams and achieved everything I came here for. It has been an honour to wear the captain’s armband for this team.”

Dieng’s departure marks the end of an era for both player and club, with the Mali international having developed into one of the most respected midfielders on the African continent during his stay in Cairo.

However, a new challenge now appears to be on the horizon. Reports indicate that Dieng is set to continue his career in Spain, with Valencia CF emerging as his next destination.

The La Liga side are reportedly close to securing the midfielder’s signature as they look to strengthen their squad with an experienced and physically dominant presence in the middle of the park.

A move to Valencia would represent a significant step in Dieng’s career, offering him the opportunity to test himself in one of Europe’s top leagues after years of success in African football.

Should the deal be completed, Dieng will leave Al Ahly as a club legend, having won multiple domestic and international honours while cementing his place among the most successful foreign players in the club’s recent history. His expected switch to Valencia would also make him one of the latest African stars to earn a move to one of Europe’s elite competitions.
