Warmed Omari nears comeback after shoulder injury

Warmed Omari is closing in on a return to the Hamburger SV squad after spending almost a month on the sidelines with a shoulder injury.

The centre-back has now resumed full training and could be involved when HSV travel to face RB Leipzig on Sunday.

Coach Merlin Polzin delivered an encouraging update ahead of the difficult Bundesliga fixture. “Warmed trained fully with the team at the end of last week and throughout this week. He feels good and looks very fresh and dynamic,” Polzin said.

That progress makes Omari a realistic option for the matchday squad, although his exact involvement remains uncertain. After a lengthy absence, the defender may need more time before he is ready to complete an entire match. “Whether he is ready for more remains to be seen,” Polzin added.

Omari’s possible return could prove especially useful because Sebastian Bornauw is unavailable. The situation could therefore push him directly into Hamburg’s defensive plans, although Polzin will wait until after the final training session before confirming his lineup.

For now, Omari’s recovery represents a timely boost for HSV. His availability gives the coaching staff another experienced defensive option, while the player has an opportunity to rebuild his rhythm carefully after the shoulder problem.
