Mainoo pledges to drive Man United’s push for major trophies after new deal
Kobbie Mainoo has outlined his determination to help Manchester United return to consistent contention for major honours after signing a new long-term contract that cements his future at Old Trafford until 2031.
The 21-year-old midfielder, whose rise through the club’s academy has accelerated into a first-team breakthrough, said he remains fully committed to the responsibility of representing United and contributing to a new cycle of success.
In his first comments following the announcement, Mainoo spoke of his deep connection to the club and his ambition to play a central role in its resurgence.
“Manchester United has always been my home; this special club means everything to my family.”
He added that his journey from academy ranks to the senior squad continues to motivate him daily, while highlighting his desire to meet the expectations that come with playing at the highest level.
“I have grown up seeing the impact that our club has on our city, and I relish the responsibility that comes with wearing this shirt.”
Mainoo also reflected on his development pathway through the club’s system, describing a long-standing sense of belonging and ambition that has shaped his career from a young age.
“From The Cliff, to Littleton Road, to Carrington and ultimately Old Trafford, the journey so far has been incredible. I have the privilege of living my dream every single day, with the same relentless desire to succeed here as when I joined my first training session at the age of six.”
Looking ahead, the England international made clear that his focus is firmly on helping United re-establish themselves among football’s elite and competing for silverware on a regular basis.
“We can all feel the momentum building inside the club. I am determined to step up and play my role in helping Manchester United to regularly fight for major trophies in the years ahead.”
Mainoo’s new deal comes after a breakthrough period in which he has become a regular starter, underlining his growing importance in midfield and his status as a key figure in United’s long-term planning.
