Luis Enrique sets Joao Neves target of 10 goals and 10 assists for Paris Saint-Germain

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Joao Neves has revealed that manager Luis Enrique has challenged him to score 10 goals and provide 10 assists during the current season.

The target is part of the Spanish manager’s efforts to increase Paris Saint-Germain’s attacking output, particularly from midfield. Enrique wants his players to contribute beyond their defensive responsibilities and their role in creating chances.

Speaking to Canal+, in comments reported by French website Foot Mercato, Neves said: “Luis Enrique has the same mentality. He wants me to score 10 goals and provide 10 assists, and that in itself is a target.”

The Portugal international also described the high standards demanded by Enrique, saying the manager is constantly looking for further improvement from his squad.

“He is never satisfied, and he is never satisfied with us,” Neves added. “He always wants more and more.”

Enrique’s challenge underlines the demands placed on Neves as he seeks to combine his usual midfield duties with a greater influence in front of goal.

The 22-year-old now faces the task of improving his attacking contribution while continuing to fulfil his defensive and creative responsibilities for Paris Saint-Germain.
