Liverpool to make fresh Bradley Barcola offer to Paris Saint-Germain next week

Liverpool are preparing to step up their efforts to sign Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola and are expected to submit a new offer for the 23-year-old next week, according to reports from Sports Mole.

The proposed move comes after Paris Saint-Germain completed the signing of Mika Godts, with Liverpool believed to be accelerating their interest in Barcola as a result.

Barcola has played predominantly on the left side of the attack during his career, which would make it surprising for Andoni Iraola to use him as a right winger if Liverpool were to spend more than £100m on the France international.

Victor Munoz and Rio Ngumoha are expected to share playing time on the right, while either player could also provide cover for Barcola if he is rested or unavailable through injury.

The Paris Saint-Germain forward has also shown he can operate as a central striker. His constant movement and relentless running have caused considerable problems for opposition defences on numerous occasions.

That versatility could become particularly valuable if Alexander Isak is ruled out for a long period. In that situation, Iraola could use Barcola through the middle and select one of Cody Gakpo, Munoz or Ngumoha on the left.

However, while Barcola would represent a significant attacking addition for Liverpool, the club would need further reinforcements in that area if they agree to let Gakpo leave for Tottenham.

Liverpool have also been linked with Ibrahim Mbaye. The 18-year-old is short of experience at the highest level, though, and it would therefore be important for the club not to overpay for his services.

There is also uncertainty in midfield. Curtis Jones has been linked with a move to Inter Milan on several occasions, and if that transfer takes place, signing a new midfielder should become a priority for Liverpool.

If the reports prove accurate, Liverpool may instead be prepared to hand Trey Nyoni a more prominent role in the first team. But relying on the 19-year-old to replace Jones would be a high-risk decision.

Iraola is now fully familiar with his squad after working with the players in training, although Liverpool remain short of attacking options following Mohamed Salah’s departure and the long-term injury suffered by Hugo Ekitike.

Barcola has been associated with a move to Liverpool for several months, but previous reports have indicated that the two clubs remain far apart in their valuations of the transfer.

The expected approach next week would represent Liverpool’s latest attempt to bridge that gap and secure the signing of one of Paris Saint-Germain’s attacking players.
