Liverpool move to hijack PSG deal for Monaco star Maghnes Akliouche

Liverpool have made an approach to sign Monaco playmaker Maghnes Akliouche, attempting to muscle in on a transfer widely reported to be close with Paris St-Germain, according to Sky Sports.

The Premier League club have contacted Monaco to ask about the conditions of a potential deal for the 24-year-old France international, Sky reported.

Initial enquiries have been made from Anfield to gauge how realistic a move for the attacking midfielder might be and what Monaco would require to sanction his sale.

This interest comes just days after French outlet Radio Monte Carlo reported that PSG had already reached an agreement with Akliouche himself over a summer move.

PSG ‘reach agreement’ with Akliouche

According to Radio Monte Carlo’s earlier report, PSG have struck a personal agreement with Akliouche ahead of a proposed switch during the current transfer window.

The Parisian club is said to have opened formal talks with Monaco to iron out the structure of the transfer and complete a final deal.

If negotiations between the two French clubs are concluded successfully, Akliouche is expected to sign a five-year contract with PSG, the report added.

Discussions between Monaco and PSG are set to continue in the coming period as both sides seek a final agreement on the fee and any add-ons linked to the transfer.

Monaco stance softens after last summer’s price tag

Akliouche had been widely tipped to leave the Stade Louis-II last summer, but the valuation set by Monaco was considered too high by suitors at the time, effectively blocking a move.

This summer, however, the situation has shifted. The principality club are not expected to stand in his way if a satisfactory offer arrives, opening the door to a bidding contest between PSG and Liverpool.

Monaco’s willingness to negotiate more readily than a year ago is seen as a key factor in why Akliouche is now at the centre of one of Europe’s most intriguing transfer battles.

France international profile on the rise

Akliouche was part of the France squad at the World Cup, an experience that has further raised his profile across Europe’s elite clubs.

His performances for Monaco in Ligue 1, combined with his exposure on the international stage, have made him an attractive option for teams seeking a creative, technically gifted midfielder capable of operating between the lines.

With PSG working to finalise terms and Liverpool testing Monaco’s resolve, the coming days and weeks are expected to be decisive in determining whether Akliouche remains in France with the champions, moves to the Premier League, or sees another contender join the race for his signature.
