MC Alger raise concerns over officiating in Rangers clash

Mouloudia Club of Algiers have expressed dissatisfaction with the refereeing decisions and alleged harassment of their delegation during their CAF Champions League encounter against Enugu Rangers in Abeokuta, Nigeria.

The Algerian outfit in a statement questioned several decisions made during the second preliminary-round encounter, particularly the penalty awarded to the Nigerian side, insisting that there was no foul to justify the spot-kick.

MC Alger also criticised the referee for sending off Oussama Benhaoua after showing him a second yellow card for an incident the club claimed involved a foul committed by Ayoub Ghezala.

The club described the decision as deliberate, arguing that Benhaoua had already been cautioned before the incident that led to his dismissal.

Beyond the officiating, MC Alger raised concerns over the treatment of their delegation at the MKO Abiola Stadium, alleging that members of the travelling contingent were repeatedly harassed while seated in the VIP stand.

The Algerian side further claimed that the cameraman responsible for its official YouTube channel was forced to change camera angles several times during the live broadcast, raising questions about the conditions under which the club’s media team operated at the venue.

MC Alger also rejected suggestions that their supporters were responsible for damaging seats at the stadium. The club insisted it had evidence showing that the seats were already damaged before kick-off.

The statement also highlighted concerns over ticket prices for their travelling supporters, with the club claiming that each ticket cost $20.

MC Alger described the price as excessive compared with ticket costs at other African stadiums where they have previously played in the CAF Champions League.

The club’s statement highlights its frustration with several aspects of the match, ranging from the refereeing decisions to the treatment of its delegation and supporters.

However, the allegations reflect MC Alger’s position, and no independent confirmation of the claims was provided in the information released by the club.
