Liverpool lead PSG in race for Ivory Coast and RB Leipzig star Yan Diomande
Liverpool are reportedly ahead of Paris Saint-Germain in the pursuit of highly-rated young Ivorian attacker Yan Diomande.
The 19-year-old, who joined RB Leipzig from Leganes last summer, has quickly emerged as one of Europe’s most promising young talents following a breakout season in Germany. His performances have attracted serious attention across the continent, with Liverpool and PSG both monitoring his progress closely.
As per reports, the Premier League giants have taken an early lead in the transfer race after initiating discussions with Leipzig regarding a possible deal. The English club are believed to be positioning themselves strongly as they assess the feasibility of bringing the teenager to Anfield ahead of the new season.
However, RB Leipzig are under no pressure to sell and are maintaining a firm stance on their valuation of the player. The Bundesliga side are reportedly demanding in excess of €130 million (£112.4m, $151.2m), a fee that reflects both his potential and his rapid rise in European football.
Diomande enjoyed an impressive campaign, registering 13 goals and 10 assists across all competitions, underlining his growing influence in Leipzig’s attacking setup. His ability to operate across the forward line, combined with his creativity and goal threat, has made him one of the standout young players in the Bundesliga.
Despite the strong interest from England and France, Leipzig remain determined to keep hold of the winger unless a record-level offer is submitted. The German club see him as a key part of their long-term project and are expected to resist early approaches unless their valuation is met.
Interestingly, Diomande has previously expressed admiration for French football, telling Téléfoot 1: “It would be a pleasure to play [in Ligue 1], with one of the biggest clubs,” hinting at an openness to a future move to France and adding another layer to the ongoing transfer speculation involving Paris Saint-Germain.
For now, Liverpool FC appear to be in a strong negotiating position, but any deal is expected to be complex given Leipzig’s financial demands and the growing competition for one of Europe’s most exciting young prospects.
