Milford FC climb to fifth after 5-1 win over ten-man Richards Bay

Milford FC strengthened their start to the 2026/27 Betway Premiership season with a 5-1 victory over KwaZulu-Natal rivals Richards Bay at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium on Sunday.

The Stallions moved back into fifth place after taking full advantage of Lindokuhle Zikhali’s first-half dismissal. Zikhali was sent off for pulling back Milford striker Siphosethu Ndlabi inside the penalty area, allowing Ndlabi to put the hosts ahead from the spot after 28 minutes.

Milford doubled their advantage before the interval when Mvelo Zikakayo reacted quickest to a loose ball that Richards Bay had failed to clear.

The visitors made two changes at half-time, but Milford extended their lead nine minutes into the second half. Zikakayo completed his brace with a composed finish from Ndlabi’s assist to put the hosts 3-0 ahead.

Richards Bay, known as the Natal Rich Boys, reduced the deficit through Mehluleli Ndelu in the 77th minute. Milford restored their three-goal advantage through substitute Phakamani Jwara before another replacement, Jabulile Gxakoshe, completed the scoring with an elegant finish.

The result left Richards Bay in 14th place.

Siwelele and Golden Arrows share the points

Siwelele FC remain without a win in the 2026/27 Betway Premiership after drawing with Golden Arrows at the Toyota Stadium.

The match was described as a 2-2 draw in the round-up, while the detailed match account recorded a 1-1 scoreline.

There was little to separate the teams during a cautious first half, but Golden Arrows took the lead four minutes after the restart. Philani Khumalo finished after Ronaldo Van Neel delivered a lofted cross.

Siwelele increased the pressure and eventually levelled when an acrobatic volley was struck from a loose ball.

The hosts thought they had taken the lead in the 67th minute when Thabiso Sesane turned in a ball dropped by goalkeeper Thakusani Mbanjwa, but the goal was disallowed after Sesane was judged to have fouled in the build-up.

Arrows then hit the crossbar with a mishit Khumalo cross, while Nhlanhla Zwane forced a fine save from Jody February, the new Masele goalkeeper. Neither side found a winner.

Golden Arrows are seventh, with Siwelele 14th.

TS Galaxy beaten by Kruger United

TS Galaxy’s difficult campaign continued with a 1-0 defeat by Kruger United at the Solomon Mahlangu Stadium.

Khetukuthula Ndlovu scored the decisive goal in the 73rd minute, steering in a cross from Mlungisi Zwane after Galaxy had been reduced to 10 men.

Veluyeke Zulu was dismissed after 50 minutes for a foul on Zwane, leaving the Rockets to play most of the second half with a numerical disadvantage.

Galaxy had created opportunities before the break, with Sedwyn George and Mpho Mvelase both going close. However, George was forced off with an injury before half-time.

Bernard Parker’s side are 11th with six points from six matches, while Abraham Mongoya’s newly promoted Kruger United climbed to 13th after recording their first win of the campaign.
