FC Barcelona is taking extra precautions ahead of their crucial Champions League quarter-final second leg match against Atletico Madrid. After drawing 1-1 in the first leg, Barcelona is keen to ensure optimal conditions for the match.

Following their traditional eve-of-match training session at the Vicente Calderon stadium, Barcelona has lodged a complaint with UEFA regarding the state of Atletico Madrid’s pitch. They argue that the pitch does not meet UEFA standards, potentially affecting the pace and quality of play.

According to reports from Marca, Barcelona suspects that Atletico Madrid may have deliberately neglected to mow the grass to hinder their opponents’ playing style. UEFA regulations mandate that pitches must not exceed three centimeters in height and must be uniform across the entire playing surface.

In response to Barcelona’s complaint, Atletico Madrid has reportedly assured Barcelona that they will rectify the situation and bring the pitch back to the required standard before the start of the match.
