Lamine Camara’s Monaco future in balance as Chelsea prepare late approach

Lamine Camara’s future at AS Monaco could be decided in the final hours of the transfer window, with Chelsea considering whether to return with an improved offer for the Senegal international.

A high-level meeting is taking place at Monaco involving the club’s sporting department, head coach, Camara and his agent. The discussions are intended to determine whether the 22-year-old midfielder should be allowed to move to England.

According to L’Equipe, Chelsea have already made an initial financial proposal for Camara. Monaco rejected an offer worth €45m, including bonuses, for the player, according to transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano.

However, Chelsea’s interest has not ended there. The London club could make a higher bid before the transfer window closes, potentially forcing Monaco to reconsider their position despite Camara being under a long-term contract.

Monaco’s hierarchy has acknowledged that an exceptional financial proposal could change the club’s stance. No agreement has been reached and no formal deal has been concluded, but a decision on the player’s immediate future is expected soon.

Camara is valued at €40m and earns an annual salary of €920,000, equivalent to 598,000,000 CFA francs. His contract with Monaco runs until 2029.

The midfielder’s position has become the subject of urgent internal discussions as Chelsea assess whether they can complete a deal before the market shuts. Monaco have so far indicated that they would prefer to retain the player, but their willingness to consider a major offer means a transfer remains possible.

Camara is also due to be involved in Monaco’s next Ligue 1 fixture, when they face Paris Saint-Germain in the third round of the French championship.

Ahead of that match, the betting odds listed by 1xBet price a Monaco victory at 6.60, a draw at 5.20 and a Paris Saint-Germain win at 1.36.
