Kylian Mbappe sets new French record

Kylian Mbappé added another remarkable chapter to his career after finding the net in Real Madrid CF’s 2-1 victory over Deportivo Alavés in the Spanish League.

The match, played at the iconic Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, marked Real Madrid’s first outing following their Champions League exit against FC Bayern Munich.

Mbappé’s contribution proved decisive as Los Blancos returned to winning ways.

Breaking Into the Top Ten

According to Statsfoot, Mbappé’s latest strike took his career tally to 246 goals, moving him into tenth place among the highest scorers in Europe’s top five leagues in the 21st century. In doing so, he edged past Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who sits just behind with 245 goals.

This achievement further cements Mbappé’s status as one of the most prolific forwards of his generation.

A Record No French Player Has Matched

Beyond climbing the all-time rankings, Mbappé also carved out a unique place in French football history. He has now become the first French player to score more than 40 goals in four consecutive seasons for a club in Europe’s top five leagues.

His incredible run includes 41 goals in the 2022–23 season, followed by 44 in both 2023–24 and 2024–25, and 41 again in the 2025–26 campaign.

Deadly From Distance

Data from Opta highlights another standout aspect of Mbappé’s season. The forward has scored eight goals from outside the penalty area across all competitions, his highest tally in a single season.

Not only is this a personal best, but it also places him ahead of every other player in Europe’s top five leagues in this category during the current campaign, underlining his growing threat from long range.
