Koma set for KRC Genk development spell after agreeing deal until 2031

Koma will begin his KRC Genk career with reserve side Jong Genk after agreeing a contract with the Belgian club until 2031.

The move represents the next stage in the Senegal-born player’s progression, with Koma set to join Jong Genk before making a full transition into the wider KRC Genk set-up. The initial spell with the reserve team is intended to give him time to adapt to European football in a structured environment, without the immediate pressure of senior competition.

KRC Genk’s coaching staff will oversee his development as he settles into Belgium. The arrangement is designed to allow the young player to continue improving while receiving the time and support needed to adjust his game to a new country and a different footballing environment.

Koma was developed in Senegal at Academie Cœur Foot in Dakar, an academy that provided the foundation for his early career. He moved into European football at the beginning of 2026, taking his first steps on the continent in Albania.

He made an immediate impression there, scoring four goals in 21 appearances across all competitions. His first professional goal came on 7 February, while he also gained valuable experience in the qualifying rounds of the UEFA Conference League.

One of his notable performances came against FC Astana in that competition, helping to underline his potential at a higher level. Those performances have now led to a long-term opportunity with KRC Genk, where his development will continue through Jong Genk.

The new KRC Genk recruit also offers a striking physical profile. Standing at 1.93m, Koma has the height to provide a significant presence in attacking situations. His size, however, is not his only strength.

Despite his stature, he is described as possessing speed, power and mobility. Those attributes allow him to threaten opponents with runs behind the defence, while his height makes him a potential target when deliveries are played into the area.

Koma is also capable of finishing with either foot, adding another dimension to his attacking play. His combination of physical qualities, movement and two-footed finishing will now be developed within KRC Genk’s system.

For the beginning of his Belgian adventure, the priority will be adjustment rather than an immediate demand for first-team football. Jong Genk will provide the platform for Koma to become familiar with his new surroundings, continue his footballing education and work with the club’s technical staff.

His agreement through to 2031 gives KRC Genk a long-term commitment to the player, while the route through Jong Genk offers Koma a measured opportunity to build on the progress he made in Albania.
