Kiambu High Court issues orders restraining FKF from disciplinary action against officials
The High Court in Kiambu has issued conservatory orders temporarily blocking the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) from suspending, removing, or otherwise interfering with officials currently holding office.
In a ruling delivered on April 28, 2026, Justice Bahati Mwamuye directed that the existing status quo be maintained pending the hearing of an application filed before the court.
The judge further ordered that any adverse actions already taken against the affected officials be stayed immediately.
The court’s decision means that no changes can be effected to the offices and positions of the Petitioner within FKF, including at the national executive level, until the matter is heard and determined inter partes.
The dispute stems from earlier developments at the Sports Disputes Tribunal, which suspended resolutions passed on April 24 by nine FKF National Executive Committee (NEC) members.
Those resolutions had sought to suspend FKF President Hussein Mohammed, Acting General Secretary Dennis Gicheru, and NEC member Yusuf Abdullahi, while also installing Macdonald Mariga as Acting President.
In its orders, the High Court directed the Respondent and Interested Party to file their responses by May 8, 2026.
A mention has been scheduled for May 19, 2026, to confirm compliance and give directions for an expedited hearing of both the application and the substantive petition.
Justice Mwamuye emphasized that the conservatory orders will remain in force until further directions are issued by the court, effectively freezing any internal administrative changes within FKF arising from the contested resolutions.
The case adds a fresh layer to the ongoing governance dispute within Kenyan football leadership structures, with legal and administrative control of FKF now firmly under judicial scrutiny as proceedings continue at the Kiambu High Court.
