Kenyan midfielder Timothy Noor Ouma is on the verge of completing a transfer from Swedish side IF Elfsborg to Czech giants SK Slavia Prague in a deal worth approximately €3.5 million (Ksh473 million).
The 20-year-old has already traveled to the Czech Republic for a medical and is expected to sign a three-year contract before being officially unveiled by Slavia Prague over the weekend.
He was left out of Elfsborg’s squad for their Europa League clash against Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday, further signaling the imminent move.
Kenyan football legend Dennis Oliech has expressed strong support for Ouma’s transfer, believing it will accelerate the midfielder’s career.
Oliech, who netted 34 goals in 76 appearances for the Kenyan national team, praised Ouma’s progress in an interview with Africafoot.
“Look where he came from and where he is right now in just three years,” Oliech said. “If the deal with Slavia Prague finally goes through, it will be the start of very big things.
He still has many years ahead of him, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he manages to break into the European leagues in a few years.”
Ouma has been a key figure in Elfsborg’s midfield this season, making 13 appearances, scoring twice, and registering one assist. Last season, he featured in 24 matches across all competitions, scoring once.
Having initially struggled to settle in Sweden after joining from Nairobi City Stars in 2022, Ouma has grown into a vital player for Elfsborg.
His anticipated move to Slavia Prague represents a significant step forward in his career, with the Czech club known for developing talent for bigger European leagues.
With his next challenge now in sight, Ouma will be aiming to make an impact in the Czech top flight as he continues his rise in European football.
