Kaizer Chiefs target top-three place as Siwelele name starting line-up

Kaizer Chiefs can move above AmaZulu into third place in the Betway Premiership when they face struggling Siwelele FC at Dobsonville Stadium this afternoon.

Both clubs have confirmed their starting line-ups for the encounter, with Fernando Da Cruz’s Chiefs looking to return to winning ways after consecutive draws against Mamelodi Sundowns and Richards Bay.

Amakhosi began the season with two victories and two draws from their opening four matches. They have scored eight goals so far, while conceding four, and will be aiming to improve their defensive record against a Siwelele side still searching for its first win of the campaign.

Chiefs will be without Langelihle Phili, who is injured. Their line-up includes goalkeeper Petersen, with Solomons, Kwinika, Miguel and Moloisane forming the defensive unit. Maboe and Ndlovu are included in midfield, while Shabalala, Mmodi, Vilakazi and Duba complete the starting XI.

Siwelele have taken only two points from a possible 12 and currently sit in the relegation zone. Lehlohonolo Seema’s team have also suffered defeats in both of their away fixtures, losing to AmaZulu FC and newly promoted Milford FC.

They will hope their visit to Dobsonville Stadium provides an opportunity to change their fortunes against Chiefs.

Siwelele have selected Xulu in goal, with Mfolozi, Sesane, Ndebele and Baliti in defence. Mokhuoane and Kobedi are named in midfield, while Pule, Thulo, Jeza and Hamzah lead the attacking line.

The teams have met twice previously. Siwelele won one of those matches, while the other ended in a goalless draw.

The result will have contrasting significance for the two sides: Chiefs are seeking the points needed to move into the top three, while Siwelele are trying to end a difficult start and climb out of the relegation zone.
