Kaizer Chiefs sign Faiz Abrahams from Stellenbosch FC on season-long loan

Kaizer Chiefs have signed Stellenbosch FC player Faiz Abrahams on a season-long loan, with the Amakhosi also securing an option to make the move permanent at the end of the 2026/27 campaign.

The agreement gives Chiefs the chance to assess Abrahams over the course of the season before deciding whether to complete a permanent transfer. It also provides the club with flexibility as the technical team considers how the player fits into its longer-term plans.

Abrahams is the latest arrival at Naturena as Kaizer Chiefs continue to rebuild their squad under their current technical team, led by Fernando Da Cruz. The move comes with the Betway Premiership season already underway, meaning the Stellenbosch FC player will be expected to compete for a place in the Chiefs starting line-up immediately.

The loan also strengthens a developing relationship between the two clubs. Several players have moved from Stellenbosch FC in the Cape Winelands to Kaizer Chiefs in Johannesburg during recent transfer windows, and Abrahams now becomes the latest player to make that switch.

For Chiefs, the option-to-buy clause reduces the financial risk of the deal while allowing the club to examine Abrahams’ contribution in competitive conditions. His performances during the campaign will help determine whether he matches the playing philosophy and long-term objectives being established by the club’s current technical team.

The addition gives the Glamour Boys further depth as they pursue their first league title in more than a decade. Kaizer Chiefs will also be aiming to make progress in multiple domestic cup competitions, increasing the importance of having a squad capable of competing across several fronts.

Abrahams’ immediate challenge will be to establish himself within the Chiefs squad and push for involvement as the season develops. The club can now evaluate that process without having to make an immediate permanent financial commitment, while retaining the right to secure his services beyond the loan period.

The move follows continued efforts by Kaizer Chiefs to reshape their playing group. With the Betway Premiership campaign already in progress, the club will be hoping the arrival of Abrahams can provide useful competition and added options as it pursues domestic success.

Should Chiefs choose to activate the clause, Abrahams would remain at Naturena beyond the current campaign. For now, however, the deal is limited to the 2026/27 season, with his future to be decided once the club has had the opportunity to assess his impact.
