USM Alger has officially announced the departure of Spanish coach Juan Carlos Garrido at the end of the 2023-2024 season. Garrido, who took the helm in mid-October following the exit of Abdelhak Benchikha, signed a contract extending until the end of the current season, with a renewal option.
However, the club’s new administration, led by Othman Sahban, opted not to activate the extension clause in Garrido’s contract.
This decision comes despite the club securing continental competition qualification, as initially agreed upon.
Today, Iranian club Persepolis FC announced the signing of the 55-year-old Garrido. He has inked an electronic contract with the team and will be joining them for the upcoming season.
Meanwhile, USM Alger is on the lookout for a new coach to lead the team next season.
