Joseph Ansah: Ghana striker joins Al-Jaish SC after spell without club
Ghanaian centre-forward Joseph Ansah has joined Iraqi side Al-Jaish SC, ending a year without a club for the 31-year-old. The move sees the experienced attacker return to professional football after leaving Busaiteen Club in 2025.
Ansah, a 1.86m right-footed striker, arrives at Al-Jaish as a free agent, having most recently played in the Gulf. His switch to the Iraqi club was completed on 15 July 2026. The length of his contract has not been made public.
The forward has built a career across the Middle East and Lebanon, featuring for sides including Al-Nasr, Al-Hala SC, Masfout Club and AC Tripoli. He moved to Busaiteen Club in January 2025 on a free transfer from Masfout after a short spell in the United Arab Emirates.
Ansah has also appeared in continental competition, recording three outings and one goal in the AFC Cup, underlining his experience beyond domestic leagues. Earlier in his career he spent time on loan at Nejmeh SC from AC Tripoli before making a permanent return to the Tripoli club.
Born on 21 November 1994, Ansah now links up with Al-Jaish SC’s attack as they continue to shape their squad. His arrival gives the Iraqi club an additional option through the middle, with the deal confirming his return to the professional ranks.
