Real Valladolid defender Joseph Aidoo remains unavailable for selection as he continues to struggle with fitness issues, prolonging his absence from competitive action.
The Ghanaian centre-back, who joined the Spanish second-tier side on loan from Celta Vigo in January, has yet to regain full match fitness.
A Season of Setbacks
Aidoo’s campaign has been marred by prolonged spells off the pitch. At Celta Vigo, he found himself sidelined for much of the season, not due to injury but a lack of playing time under his former manager.
Seeking regular minutes, the 29-year-old made the switch to Valladolid during the winter transfer window. However, his move has yet to bring him the fresh start he had hoped for.
Despite being handed a recovery period upon arrival, Aidoo was able to make three appearances for the Blanquivioletas before suffering another injury setback.
His rehabilitation has taken longer than anticipated, and his return date remains uncertain.
Coach Rubio’s Uncertainty Over Aidoo’s Availability
With Valladolid set to face Celta Vigo on March 15, all eyes are on whether Aidoo will be fit to feature against his parent club. Head coach Álvaro Rubio provided an update on the situation but could not confirm the defender’s readiness.
“His intention has always been to speed up his recovery,” Rubio stated. “He has felt some discomfort this week, but we will have to see if he can make it in time for this match.”
A Crucial Period for Valladolid
Valladolid, currently pushing for promotion back to LaLiga, will be hoping to have their defensive options reinforced as they enter a decisive stretch of the season.
However, Aidoo’s ongoing fitness struggles have left the club with uncertainty over his role in the coming weeks.
As the team prepares to take on Celta Vigo, Aidoo’s condition remains a concern, raising questions about whether he will be able to contribute before the season’s end.
