Jonathan Panzo linked with Lazio move after becoming a free agent

England and Ivory Coast centre-back Jonathan Panzo, currently without a club, has been linked with a move to Italian side Lazio.

The 25-year-old defender left Birmingham on 1 July 2026, having joined the Championship club from Portuguese side Rio Ave in February. Panzo’s current market value is listed at €1.5m.

Panzo has made 42 Championship appearances during his career, scoring once, and has also played in Portugal, France and Belgium. His most recent spell at Rio Ave followed a loan move from Nottingham Forest, before he joined Birmingham earlier this year.

The London-born defender began his career in Chelsea’s academy and was part of the club’s Under-18 side that won the English Youth League twice and the FA Youth Cup in 2017-18. He also helped England win the Under-17 World Cup in 2017.

A move to Lazio would take Panzo into Serie A, although the reported interest remains at rumour stage and there is no indication that an agreement has been reached. The defender’s current status leaves him available for a new club, with Lazio the side currently linked with him.
