Raja Club Athletic’s parliament has elected Jawad Al-Zayat as club president for a full term, marking his return to the helm.
Al-Zayat previously led Raja from 2018 to 2021, a period highlighted by notable successes including the domestic league title, the CAF Confederation Cup, and the African Super Cup.
In the recent election, Al-Zayat overcame rivals Saeed Hasban and Abdullah Beroin in the first round.
He then secured a decisive victory in the second round, receiving 93 votes against Beroin’s 43.
Beroin had been serving as interim president since mid-season.
Al-Zayat becomes Raja’s 10th president in as many seasons—a stark indication of the club’s recent instability.
This turbulence has coincided with Raja’s absence from the CAF Champions League and the club’s struggle to reclaim continental glory, having not won the tournament since 2001.
