Guéla Doué becomes key transfer priority for Inter Milan
Inter Milan have stepped up their interest in Ivory Coast defender Guéla Doué as they search for a replacement for Denzel Dumfries, with the Strasbourg right-back now considered one of their leading transfer targets.
The Italian club have made contact over a possible move for the 23-year-old, who has attracted attention with his performances in France and is viewed as a potential solution to strengthen Inter’s defensive options.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter have returned their focus to Doué after facing complications in other transfer pursuits.
The Nerazzurri had been monitoring Anan Khalaili of Union Saint-Gilloise, but concerns surrounding his medical situation have affected their plans. Talks for Atalanta defender Marco Palestra have also reportedly broken down, leading Inter to accelerate their interest in the Ivorian international.
Doué is now regarded as the club’s main alternative option and has become a serious candidate to fill the position left open following Dumfries’ departure to Real Madrid.
However, securing an agreement is expected to be challenging.
Inter face competition from city rivals AC Milan, who are also believed to be interested in the Strasbourg defender. Despite that rivalry, Inter remain confident they can reach an agreement with the player.
The biggest obstacle is expected to be negotiations with Strasbourg, who are under no pressure to sell a player contracted with the French club until June 2029.
Doué’s current market value is estimated at around €20 million by Transfermarkt, but the amount required to complete a deal could be considerably higher.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, speaking on his YouTube channel, Strasbourg are not expected to accept offers in the region of €25 million, €30 million or even €35 million.
Instead, the French club are reportedly looking for a fee closer to €50 million for their highly rated defender.
Such a valuation would force Inter Milan to make a significant financial commitment if they are determined to bring Doué to Serie A.
The Italian side are continuing to evaluate alternative options to avoid depending entirely on one negotiation, should discussions with Strasbourg fail to reach an agreement.
Doué currently earns an annual salary of approximately €900,000, but his performances have increased his profile and placed him among the defenders attracting interest from major European clubs.
For Inter, the challenge will be balancing their desire to secure a long-term defensive solution with the financial demands of a deal that could become one of the more expensive moves of their summer transfer window.
As talks continue, Doué remains a key name in Inter’s recruitment plans, with the Strasbourg defender attracting increasing attention from Italy’s top clubs.
