Ivorian winger Simon Adingra back on Marseille’s radar as summer move looms

Ivorian winger Simon Adingra back on Marseille’s Radar as summer move looms

Olympique de Marseille are set to revive their pursuit of Brighton and Hove Albion winger Simon Adingra, with the Ligue 1 club preparing a renewed approach ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Ivorian international has been on Marseille’s shortlist since the January window, but initial contact failed to lead to a formal bid. Now, with growing uncertainty over Adingra’s future at Brighton, the French side appear ready to act.

Current Marseille manager Roberto De Zerbi, who previously coached Adingra during his time at Brighton, is believed to be a driving force behind the club’s interest.

De Zerbi is known to hold the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations winner in high regard, having handed him a number of appearances during their time together in the Premier League.

Since De Zerbi’s departure from the South Coast club, Adingra’s playing time has significantly diminished under the new management.

The 22-year-old winger is reportedly open to leaving Brighton this summer in search of a more prominent role, and the opportunity to reunite with De Zerbi in Marseille could prove tempting.

Although Marseille are keen to bring Adingra to the Stade Vélodrome, they are not alone in their interest. Clubs from both the Premier League and the Bundesliga are closely monitoring the situation, with several sides understood to be evaluating formal offers of their own. The competition for his signature is expected to be intense.

Adingra is under contract at Brighton until 2026, and any deal will likely require a substantial financial commitment.

His market value has risen sharply, with Transfermarkt currently estimating his worth at €30 million, reflecting his performances both at club level and in international competitions.

The Ivorian played a key role in Côte d’Ivoire’s triumphant Africa Cup of Nations campaign earlier this year, a tournament that further elevated his reputation on the continental stage.

His pace, technical ability, and versatility across the front line make him an attractive prospect for any side seeking attacking reinforcements.

For Marseille, the potential acquisition of Adingra would signal a clear intent to strengthen their attacking options and support De Zerbi’s tactical vision.

The club is expected to undergo significant changes this summer, and Adingra’s arrival could be a pivotal part of that rebuilding process.

As talks begin to gain momentum, the coming weeks will be crucial. While Brighton have yet to comment publicly on Adingra’s future, they are likely aware that retaining him may prove challenging if he continues to feature sporadically.

Marseille, meanwhile, appear determined to capitalise on their manager’s existing relationship with the player.

Whether that is enough to secure a deal in the face of growing competition remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: Simon Adingra’s future is shaping up to be one of the more closely watched stories of this summer’s transfer window.
