Kolo Touré, the Liverpool defender and member of the Ivory Coast national team, recently took some time off in Abidjan before gearing up for the World Cup preparations with the Elephants. In an interview with Emgey Martial, Touré reflected on his season, his brother Yaya Touré’s success, and the upcoming World Cup.

Liverpool’s Loss and Yaya’s Win Liverpool narrowly missed out on the English league title this season. When asked if Yaya Touré’s success with Manchester City eased his disappointment, Kolo said he would have preferred Liverpool to win. However, he acknowledged his family’s joy and congratulated his brother.

Yaya Touré’s Performance Kolo expressed pride in Yaya’s outstanding season but wasn’t surprised by his brother’s success. He believes Yaya has always been a great player and continues to improve. With the World Cup approaching, Kolo expects Yaya to lead the Ivory Coast team alongside experienced players like Didier Drogba and Didier Zokora.

World Cup Preparation Kolo mentioned that he visited Ivory Coast to recharge and spend time with family before the World Cup. He emphasized the elite nature of the competition and the need to give their best for the nation.

Ivory Coast’s World Cup Group Kolo believes that the Elephants’ group, which includes Colombia, Japan, and Greece, is competitive but manageable. He stressed the importance of vigilance, humility, and determination in every match.

Expectations for the World Cup Kolo agrees with the Ivorian coach, Sabri Lamouchi, that an early elimination would be a significant failure. He believes the group is balanced and that the team needs to prepare well to avoid any regrets.

AFI Association Kolo discussed his involvement with the AFI (Association des Footballeurs Ivoiriens), an association he helped create. He expressed happiness about its growth and encouraged local professional footballers to trust and engage with the association for support and guidance.

In conclusion, Kolo Touré’s insights provide a glimpse into the mindset of a seasoned footballer preparing for one of the most significant tournaments in the sport.
