Inter Milan beaten by Club Bruges in seven-goal UEFA Champions League thriller

Inter Milan were beaten 4-3 by Club Bruges at San Siro on Tuesday in a dramatic UEFA Champions League encounter, despite a late goal from Ange-Yoan Bonny.

Nicolo Tresoldi scored a hat-trick for the Belgian side, while Carlos Forbs provided three assists as Club Bruges took advantage of defensive errors to claim an impressive victory away from home.

Club Bruges made the breakthrough after 30 minutes when Tresoldi converted from the penalty spot. The award followed a foul by Hakan Calhanoglu on Forbs.

Inter responded by increasing the pressure and eventually drew level just before half-time. Federico Dimarco combined with Marcus Thuram before finding Lautaro Martinez, who finished inside the penalty area in the 44th minute to make it 1-1.

The visitors regained control after the interval, with Inter’s defensive uncertainty helping them move two goals clear.

Forbs capitalised on a misunderstanding between goalkeeper Josep Martinez and the home defence in the 63rd minute, setting up Tresoldi to score his second of the night.

The forward completed his hat-trick 11 minutes later, reacting first after the Spanish goalkeeper had parried an effort to restore Club Bruges’ two-goal advantage.

Inter refused to give up and reduced the deficit in the 81st minute when Lautaro Martinez scored his second goal of the match.

However, Club Bruges quickly re-established its cushion. Forbs supplied Romeo Vermant in the 87th minute, and Vermant converted to put the Belgian team 4-2 ahead.

Bonny had come on only a few minutes earlier but gave Inter renewed hope in stoppage time. The forward scored in the third added minute after combining with Lautaro Martinez and Aleksandar Stankovic.

Inter pushed for an equaliser in the closing moments, but could not find another opening. Club Bruges held on for a 4-3 win at San Siro, with Tresoldi’s finishing and Forbs’ creative contribution proving decisive.

Bonny’s late strike offered Inter a final chance of salvaging a result, but it was not enough to prevent a frustrating defeat.
