Inaki Williams, the Athletic Bilbao striker who has faced scrutiny for his performance during the recent Africa Cup of Nations (CAN), has spoken out about his decision to represent Ghana, expressing pride in his choice.

Despite facing criticism for his mixed performance in the AFCON, Williams remains steadfast in his commitment to representing the country of his parents.

In an interview reported by Footballghana, Williams expressed his conviction, stating, “I had to make a decision, and I do not regret being able to represent the country of my parents, of my family.

I think I’m having one of my best moments thanks to the decision I made to play with Ghana,” as reported by Club del Deportista.

Williams, who was born in Spain, made his debut for the Ghanaian national team in September 2022, featuring in friendly matches against Brazil and Nicaragua.

He subsequently represented Ghana in the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Despite facing challenges adapting to the international stage, Williams has earned 17 caps and scored 1 goal for the Black Stars.

While his performance in the recent Africa Cup of Nations may have been less convincing than desired, Williams remains resolute in his commitment to Ghana.

His decision to represent the country of his heritage reflects his deep connection to his roots and his determination to contribute to Ghanaian football.

As Williams continues to navigate his international career, he remains focused on representing Ghana with pride and making meaningful contributions to the team’s success.

Despite the challenges he may face, his dedication to the Black Stars serves as a testament to his unwavering commitment to his ancestral homeland.
