Red-hot attacker Karim Adeyemi showed his quality once more on Tuesday night, scoring for Borussia Dortmund in their UEFA Champions League affair against Lille.
The German forward with Nigerian parents started the game for the Germans today in the first leg meeting of the Round 16 tie in the elite European competition.
Dortmund took the lead in the 22nd minute when a loose ball fell kindly to Karim Adeyemi. Without hesitation, he unleashed a powerful strike that rocketed past goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier, ricocheting off the bottom of the left post before settling into the net. The stunning effort gave the home side an early advantage.
However, Lille found their equalizer in the 68th minute through Hakon Arnar Haraldsson. Set up by Jonathan David, Haraldsson’s shot from the edge of the box lacked precision but somehow found its way into the bottom right corner, restoring parity for the visitors.
With his goal on Tuesday night, Karim Adeyemi now has five goals and one assist after making seven appearances in the UEFA Champions League.
