Ilan Kebbal continues to enjoy one of the most successful periods of his career, becoming a vital figure for Paris FC while reclaiming his place with Algeria’s national team under coach Vladimir Petkovic.

The 27-year-old attacking midfielder has delivered an impressive start to the Ligue 2 season, scoring four goals and providing two assists in just seven matches.

His performances earned him the August Player of the Month award, surpassing several highly regarded talents in the competition.

Speaking to Téléfoot, Kebbal shared his mindset and ambitions as he enters his fourth season with Paris FC. “This is my fourth year here, and last season the stadium was already full,” he said.

“There’s a new energy, new ambitions, and bigger expectations for everyone. The club wants to reach the next level, and we must also raise our performance.”

Kebbal, known for his creativity and technical quality, also reflected on measuring himself against elite players.

“When I faced PSG, I was marking Verratti,” he admitted. “After the match, I realised I’m a professional footballer, but he plays a different sport. The level is incredible.”

Head coach Stéphane Gilli praised Kebbal’s evolution and impact. “He was the first player I wanted when I arrived,” Gilli said.

“He’s unique, capable of breaking defences, and has made huge progress, especially in managing his efforts and being decisive.

He performed well last season, but this year he has started even stronger.”

Kebbal’s resurgence has not gone unnoticed at the international level. Petkovic recalled him in September, and the midfielder remains in contention for Algeria’s October camp.

The coach plans to rely on Kebbal’s attacking influence in crucial World Cup qualifiers against Somalia and Uganda, where the Fennecs aim to secure a 2026 World Cup spot.
