Mohamed Salah has shared that he calls his mother before every match, a tradition he has followed since the start of his career.
The Egyptian forward will feature in his tenth major final for the club when the Reds face Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday at Wembley.
Salah played a crucial role in the previous round, scoring in the second leg to help Liverpool reach their third Carabao Cup final in the last four seasons.
Liverpool are the current holders of the competition and could secure their 11th League Cup title with a victory over Newcastle.
Salah, whose contract with Liverpool expires this summer, has also stated that winning the Premier League remains his biggest motivation this season.
Ahead of the final, Salah was asked about the last person he would contact before the game.
“I’ll say my mum. I call her on the phone all the time. Since I started my career, I’ve called her every day before a game. Before heading to the stadium, I always make sure to speak with her,” he said.
When asked what she does during their conversations, Salah replied: “She gives me a prayer and wishes me good luck.”
