Cameroonian midfielder Carlos Baleba reaffirms commitment to Brighton despite transfer interest

Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba has emphatically put last summer’s transfer saga with Manchester United behind him, saying he is now fully focused on his own development and the team around him.

The Cameroon international, 22, attracted intense interest from the Red Devils, with multiple offers reportedly rejected before the start of the season. Despite the attention, Baleba says he has learned to tune out the distractions.

“I feel more relaxed now,” Baleba told Sky Sports. “The noise about me outside, I didn’t understand. I didn’t look on the websites. I’m more focused on me, myself and for my team-mates.”

Baleba’s comments underline a maturity beyond his years, as he continues to adapt to life in the Premier League following his move to Brighton.

He acknowledges that his focus on improvement remains central to his game, with a particular emphasis on enjoying his football rather than being consumed by pressure.

“All my qualities, I need to improve on that,” Baleba added. “The most of the qualities I have is I need to enjoy more football, because when I play, I’m so serious that I want to do the right thing or to do the proper thing on the pitch.”

Since joining Brighton, Baleba has impressed with his composure on the ball, tactical awareness, and ability to drive play forward. Coaches and teammates have noted his hunger to improve while remaining grounded amid growing recognition.
