# Hossam Hassan set for talks with Egypt FA over new contract

Hossam Hassan is due to meet a committee from the Egyptian Football Association within the next few days to finalise the terms of a proposed contract extension as manager of the Egypt national team.

The meeting will focus on Hassan’s new agreement, the structure of his coaching staff and revised salaries, as well as plans for two friendly matches during the next international break, according to FilGoal.com.

The committee was appointed by the Egyptian Football Association to negotiate the details of Hassan’s renewal and will include vice-president Khaled El-Dirandaly, along with board members Tarek Abu El-Enein and Hamada El-Sherbiny.

The discussions are expected to determine the main conditions of the new contract and the arrangements surrounding Hassan’s technical team. The proposed salary structure will also be considered as part of the talks.

The Egyptian Football Association had previously announced the formation of the committee, with its members tasked with reaching an agreement with Hassan over the continuation of his role as national-team manager.

Hassan took charge of Egypt in February 2024 and began his tenure the following month with a match against New Zealand.

Since then, the former Egypt captain has led the national side in 35 matches, recording 19 wins, 10 draws and five defeats.

Egypt finished second in Group Seven with five points, behind Belgium on goal difference. During the group stage, Egypt drew with Belgium and Iran before beating New Zealand 3-1.

The Pharaohs then advanced from the last 32 by defeating Australia on penalties. Their campaign ended in the last 16 with a defeat by defending champions Argentina.

The forthcoming meeting will therefore cover both the practical and financial aspects of Hassan’s renewal, while also addressing preparations for Egypt’s next fixtures. The two friendly matches scheduled for the upcoming international window are included among the issues to be discussed by the manager and the Football Association committee.

Hassan’s current position began with the New Zealand fixture in March 2024, and the committee’s mandate is to settle the terms that would allow him to continue leading the national team. The talks will involve the three officials selected by the Egyptian Football Association and the manager himself, with the coaching staff and salaries forming part of the final agreement.
