Zamalek Club spokesperson: considering an appeal regarding Hossam El-Mendouh's case

Hossam El-Mendouh, treasurer of Zamalek SC, has made a heartfelt plea to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to step in and resolve the ongoing land crisis facing the club.

His call comes after the Ministry of Housing withdrew the October Gardens City land that had been allocated to Zamalek.

The decision, made by Housing Minister Sherif El-Sherbiny last Monday, cited delays in meeting the required completion rate. El-Mendouh explained in a televised statement that the board of directors has agreed to file an official appeal against the ruling.

He revealed that meetings were held with the Minister of Housing and the Minister of Youth and Sports to present Zamalek’s progress since receiving the land. According to him, the club had secured ministerial approvals and paid fees, only to be shocked by the sudden withdrawal two months later despite contracts with banks and state bodies to build new stadiums by October.

El-Mendouh dismissed claims of hotel or mall projects, stressing that Zamalek’s legal position is solid. He ended by describing the issue as nothing less than “life or death” for the club.
